The
Miracle Worker
One
morning, there was a beautiful child who named Helen. She was irrevocably
blind and deaf. She always did what she wanted and her mom always protected
Helen eventhough she did bad thing.
In a room, Mrs.
Keller, Captain Keller, aunt Ev and her step brother talked about Helen
condition. Her father said “The only thing left to do is to take Helen to an
asylum” but Mrs. Keller couldn't bear to have her shouted up in an asylum then
aunt Ev suggested that the father
sent a letter to Dr. Chisholm in Baltimore
to ask for a caregiver and teacher was sent to
Helen. Then Captain Keller reluctantly agreed.
Later, Dr. Chisholm received the letter. He
immediately asked Anna Sullivan to be a caregiver and teacher Helen.
Ms. Sullivan had
a background that was almost
similar to what happened to Helen.
After Arrived at the Keller’s home, Ms. Sullivan
immediately approached and recognized Helen's intelligence and curiosity. Helen annoyed because of her
presence. So she was locked in his room by
Helen. However, the
incident did not make Ms. Sullivan despaired to nurture
and teach Helen.
Next day at
breakfast, Annie watched in disgust as Helen wandered about the table, taking
food from each person's plate with her hands, and cramming it into her mouth.
The adults pay no attention to her. When
Helen reached for Annie's plate, Annie quietly fended off her hand. Captain
Keller was angry to Ms. Sullivan but Mrs. Keller persuades him to let her
stayed.
Ms. Sullivan though that Helen must be taught
in another place. This home was not suitable to Helen because her family always
gave her everything that she wanted. Then, Mrs. Keller forced to agree with Ms
Sullivan. They would live in little cottage which was nearby Keller’s home.
Captain Keller gave her two weeks to teach Helen.
Two weeks later,
Mr. Keller came for Helen, Annie must hand her over. She felt that she has failed. Annie confided
her fear to Captain Keller that Helen would slip back into her old habits, and
asked his help to keep Helen to what she has learned. He readily agreed then
invited her to a special homecoming dinner for Helen, composed of all her
favorite foods.
When they were
dinner together, Helen back to her old habit Annie grabbed Helen and dragged
her away from the table. Annie dragged Helen out to the pump to refill the water that
has thrown by Helen.
After
a time, with the water well pump
and Helen finally
understood what has
been taught by Ms. Sullivan. "Water"
was the first word that was understood, and
followed by the other
words. Helen asked Ms. Sullivan
to teach back
what she has not
understood. Then Helen grew up and became a
famous lawyer. Ms. Sullivan remained a teacher
who accompanied him.
