Code Switching Is a Common Practice among Bilinguals

There are various factors that make people use code switching in their communication activity. It can be caused by the context of situation and addressing agreement, etc. Code switching arises when the people acquire at least two languages or two language varieties and it usually called as bilingualism. Poeple use code switching as a way to deal with more than one langauge in any situation. Sometimes, it is very short utterance.

They use code switching to communicate with other people is under certain circumstance. Changing language is practical behavior that categorized into unmarked choice. The reasons why they change language are depended on the language user. They have certain reason to do it.  In simply, what Coulmas says about unmarked choice is covered code switching.

Kamu harus aware dengan hal-hal kecil sebab dari hal kecil ini power mu di perusahaan justru akan meningkat, so mereka akan lebih respect sama kamu.

          Using word aware, power, so and respect in Indonesia sentences is called code switching. The speaker uses code switching because the idea cannot be expressed in one language variety. Another reason why he use code switching is personal reason. In simply, he will feel  pleasant or got personal pleasure if he uses that word. Furthermore, the main point of the sentence can be delivered effectively by the speaker then it can be understood more easily by addresse.
