Standard English is a Choice

Using Standard English in educational environment is very crucial. Standard English play an important in teaching and learning process. It is a tool to bridge the gap of students who come from different geographical area. Teacher should acquire Standard English to communicate with students effectively.As we know that students come from different geographical area. They bring various backgrounds and particular identity such as local language. The used of different language will be a barrier of transferring knowledge or information in learning process so we have to choose standard English to make the generalization of language. Teaching language is not only taught spoken text but also written text. We cannot control student if we use non-standard English because it cannot be measured.  

Standard English has formal structure that can be taught systematically by the teacher.  The systematic language is easier to be understood by the students. They can construct sentence in spoken and written context. In other word, to build communication in Standard English is more effective than to build communication in Non-Standard English.

Homogenization’ Takes Place in Urban Society

Urban society consists of people who have   heterogeneity in many aspects. They come from different    geographical area that brings their identity such as language.  In fact, they should deal with the homogenization       because of profession, business, education, social class,   etc. Then, the heterogeneity automatically disappear because the necessity to build an effective communication. They cannot use their local language variety because not all of the people can understand the meaning. The communication will be one side communication and there is no feedback whereas one the purpose in building communication is to get feedback from the people.

The other reason is about the prestige. The modernity of  urban society asks the people to use everything in general version included the use of language. People usually prefer to use national language than local language to diminish the gap between the language users. National language such as Bahasa Indonesia has high acceptability and it can be used in almost context and situation.

Choosing English Native Is Confusing

England

Native speakers from core circle area such as England, Australia, New Zealand. Canada, and US have their own accent. All of them can be 
English speaker teachers because those accents can be understood 
by many English users. Among those native speakers, 
there are two most common accents used by 
non-native speaker around the world. 
They are British English and American English. 

Australia

Choosing native English speaker to teach English is confusing because they have their own strength and weakness. To appoint one of them, we have to determine the purpose and subject of our course first.
 In relation with Indonesia which uses English as the first foreign language, American English accent used widely in many 
educational environments. However, two native speakers
 from England and US have more familiar accent 
used by the Indonesian than the other accents. 
Considering the fact above, the two possibilities of 
native speaker will be chosen are 
from England and US.

New Zealand

Furthermore, if the subject is beginner learner and the purpose of the course is to make student can communicate with the wider community of language user around the world, so native speaker from American is better to be chosen. 
It is chosen because the learner is more familiar with American English
rather than British English since the international media 
has been dominated by US.

Canada

Moreover, the accent of American English is easier to be learnt, they  learn from many movies produced by US. In addition, many internet materials are used American English for instance: videos, recording,

    etc. While, if the subject is advanced learner and the purpose is to study abroad to European country, so native speaker from 

England is better to be chosen.

    

US

 
It means that, appoint US or England or other native speakers  will provide many positive sides depend on the subject 
and the purpose of the course. So think  
native speaker you need not you want....
